In February of 2005, YouTube started as a website intended for anyone to use and to share home videos. At that time, it was very difficult to find and share clips online, and this prompted the creators to come up with this solution. The beta of YouTube was released in May 2005 and had garnered around 30,000 visitors. YouTube was fully launched by

FOUNDERS
The founders of Youtube are Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim who all met and are former employees of Paypal.
OWNERSHIP
As of November 2006, the site was bought by Google as stock for 1.65 billion dollars. The current CEO of Youtube is Susan Wojcicki, who came as the No. 16 employee for Google and helped advocate the purchase of Youtube.
